The IMEC Indian Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) Cadet Program at HIMT College is a sponsorship-backed pre-sea training course offering guaranteed pre-course placement opportunities through IMEC member shipping companies. IMEC represents over 260 global maritime employers and conducts a structured selection process for aspiring marine engineers.

What are the eligibility criteria for the IMEC GME program?

Candidates must have a B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a government-recognized or AICTE-approved institution, with 60% aggregate marks across all semesters and minimum 50% in English (10th/12th/Degree). An IMU CET 2025 Rank is mandatory, and applicants must have completed 10th and 12th from a recognized board.

What is the age limit for applying to the IMEC GME Cadet Program?

The maximum age limit is 24 years at the time of application. Candidates awaiting their final semester results may also apply but must submit their 8th semester marksheet and meet the 60% aggregate requirement before course commencement.

What medical standards are required for the IMEC GME Program?

Candidates must be medically fit as per the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, including minimum unaided vision of 6/12, normal eye health, no color blindness (tested using Ishihara Chart), and good physical fitness and hearing. A medical fitness certificate from a DG Shipping–approved doctor is mandatory.

Are there any additional requirements or important notes for applicants?

Yes. A passport is mandatory, application fees are non-refundable, and caution deposits are refunded after adjustments. All payments must be made online (UPI, Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card). Fees are forfeited if a candidate withdraws after course commencement. Applicants must apply for the IMEC Selection Process through only one MTI, as multiple applications can lead to disqualification. Scholarships are available for deserving students.

Your application will not be considered for the same year, if you apply the second time, if you fail to clear the selection in the first attempt.

The Application Fee paid is non-refundable.
⁠As per D. G. Shipping Guidelines, passport is mandatory to join the course.
Caution Deposits are refundable at the end of the course after adjustments of laundry charges & damages, breakages etc., if any.
Fees paid is forfeited if withdrawn from the Course after the course commencement.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY

Full Refund : You are eligible for a full refund of the initial amount paid if you do not pass the IMEC Sponsorship Assessment or Interview.

Forfeiture of Initial Amount : The initial amount paid will be forfeited if:

You withdraw after your details have been sent to the Sponsoring Company,
You withdraw after being shortlisted in the Assessment or Interview.
